The devotee engages to the best of his ability into the play of life, fulfilling his role on this earth as student, employee, husband, wife, parent, neighbor, and community servant. But at the heart of the devotee is a burning desire for the Lord.
Human life is full off the play of samskaras, tendencies developed by repeated actions.
Earth teaches me to forget myself as melted snow forgets its life. Earth teaches me resignation as the leaves which die in the fall… Earth teaches me regeneration as the seed which rises in the spring.
The soul that is attached to anything, however much good there may be in it, will not arrive at the liberty of Divine union. For whether it be a strong wire rope or a slender and delicate thread that holds the bird, it matters not, if it really holds it fast; for until the cord be broken, the bird cannot fly.
Life is like a 1,000 page book. You want to quit halfway through, but then you realise you have a lot left to look forward to.
